Little Taoshu http://www.littletaoshu.com Learn Chinese Books - The Fun and Easy Way Sat, 13 Mar 2010 00:27:26 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.8.5 en hourly 1 Chinese language in schools http://www.littletaoshu.com/2010/03/13/chinese-language-in-schools/ http://www.littletaoshu.com/2010/03/13/chinese-language-in-schools/#comments Sat, 13 Mar 2010 00:27:26 +0000 staff http://www.littletaoshu.com/?p=668 The frontpage newpaper headline was that they’re gonna start using English to teach Chinese in schools.  To me, they’re missing the point.  The main problem is that Chinese is seen by some as a subject to tackle and pass, instead of a living language that’s beautiful and rich in culture.  I think Chinese should be fun.  And that’s the philosophy behind Taoshu books.Taoshu is a loveable cartoon character, kids see Taoshu on TV, they connect with Taoshu and Lingling.  So when they read the books, they don’t see it as “educational”, as another Chinese textbook forcefed on them.  Just my two cents.  What do you think? –Sung Lin Gun
